LEGAZPI CITY, June 23 (PNA) -– So, what has been done on the city and municipal police chiefs removed from their respective posts earlier reported here: PNP Bicol sacks police chiefs?

The 22 chiefs of police sacked last week from their posts after failing the target policy output being implemented by the Philippine National Police are now undergoing an eight-day refresher to give them a second chance to be chiefs of police, again.

The re-training started on Monday morning after the flag ceremony at Camp Gen. Simeon A. Ola in Legazpi city.

Chief Supt. Victor P. Deona, PNP Bicol regional director, opened the refresher course.

The offficers are undergoing the course in preparation for their reassignment as police chiefs in other towns of the region. What?

The refresher course has eight modules that will last for eight days and these are: Human Resource Management, Internal Discipline, Intelligence, Operation, Police Community Relations, Resource Management and Financial Matters, Investigation and General Subject.

Deona said the refresher course will be a regular study course for police officers who will aspire to become chiefs of police in municipalities where their main task is to supervise men.

A police officer will be removed from the post who fails the task to accomplish the target policy output of the performance governance system, the present program of the PNP.

“We should start to upgrade the level of standards of the police organization. We will no longer tolerate the ‘business as usual’ attitude which makes the public look down at the police,” Deona pointed out.

The regional police chief, however, decided to extend the refresher training for one more week so that additional modules could be introduced to the present curriculum. (PNA)
