FERNANDEZ HERNANDEZ POST 1: For years now, I have been mining on the discovery, research and documentation on the family tree of the biggest clan in Calabanga, the Fernandezes.
Today, Feb. 29, exactly 220 years ago, was born ‘PF’ one of the pillar patriarch of the family. His parents were: father ‘Don DF’ and mother ‘Doña PDLC.’ For now, I presumed tbat ‘Don DF’ may have been born between 1780 and 1784.
During their era, instances of marriage occur at a very young age, between 19 and (but seldom at) 25 years of age. In his generation, one of his adult son ‘Don FDLCF’ changed his last name to ‘Don FDLCHernandez.’
The family name of Fernandez thus forked into Hernandez and Fernandez.
Interesting to note here, during Spanish colonial times, adult men and women were addressed with Don and Doña, as what appeared in the combo birth and baptismal certificates issued by the local Catholic parish church. But always referred to, and indicated as, Indios!, meaning native inhabitants of Las Islas Filipinas.
