VIRAC, Catanduanes – The Catholic pious of the island joins the Diocese of Virac on a celebratory mood during the occasion of its Ruby anniversary with the theme “Bagong Ebanghelisasyon: Pagpabunga kan Pagtubod.”

According to steering committee secretary Rev. Fr. Eric John Rojas, they expect thousands of devotees on Aug. 27 where 15 bishops from the various Diocese are expected to grace the occasion particularly at the Holy Mass.

Some of the highlights of the occasion include a “Diana” (band) around the central urban district of Virac, Holy Mass, ringing of church bells in all barangay chapels, a liturgical reception and Pontifical concelebrated mass at the cathedral.

It must be recalled that the Vatican under the helm of Pope Paul VI issued Papal Bull “Divino Christi Mandato”, on May 27,1974, carving the Diocese of Virac, from the Diocese of Legazpi.
