A federation of senior citizens in the municipality of Calabanga in Camarines Sur is a recipient of a P1 million investment capital assistance from the regional office of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
The fund will be earmarked to finance the opening of a drug store in the town poblacion. The livelihood project as a business venture is seen as likely source of income for members of the Senior Citizens Municipal Federation of Calabanga.
As a pet project of the local government unit’s senior citizens it is being funded under the Bottoms-Up Budgeting program.
Director Honorita Bayudan of the Poverty Reduction Program Bureau of the DSWD central office awarded the check to municipal Mayor Eduardo Severo.
As a counterpart, the local government will provide a stall located at the municipal public market located in Barangay San Isidro.
