More Bicol politicians vow support for presidential candidacy of Grace Poe

Just a few days after Albay Governor Joey Salceda resigned as regional chairman of the Liberal Party and vowed support for independent presidential candidate Grace Poe, more Bicol provincial officials followed his move.

On Monday, it was confirmed that Gov. Edgardo Tallado (LP) of Camarines Norte, Gov. Raul Lee (UNA) of Sorsogon, (former) Gov. Rizalina Seachon Lanete of Masbate, Gov. Arceli Wong (Ind) and Vice Gov. Jose Teves (Lakas-CMD) of Catanduanes are now in the bandwagon for Poe.

Much earlier, Camarines Sur Governor Luis Miguel Villafuerte and his father, former governor Luis Raymond Villafuerte declared their support for the Galing at Puso presidential hopeful, being affiliated with the Nationalist People’s Coalition.

Meanwhile in the campaign trails of Malasiqui town of Pangasinan, Poe expressed appreciation for the support being extended to her by the Bicol politicians.

”The supports of the local leaders are very important for what we fight,” Poe told the media in an ambush media interview.

”The time has come for Bicolanos to rise up from poverty,” Poe said.

Poe’s running mate Sen. Francis ‘Chiz’ Escudero also got supports from Tallado, Villafuerte, Lee and Salceda.

In a related story, the Ako Bicol partylist has expressed its full support for the decision of all six governors of the Bicol Region to support the presidency of Poe.

Partylist Rep. Rodel Batocabe said their group has already forged an alliance with all the governors of the Bicol Region to ensure the victory of Poe.

“Of the island province of Catanduanes I have forged an alliance that will ensure the victory of Grace Poe not only in the Bicol Region but in the entire nation,” Batocabe said following the declaration of the governors.

Batocabe is the spokesperson of the 40-strong Partylist Coalition which had earlier expressed their support for Poe.
