In the on-going term of President Rodrigo Duterte, there is always that seasonal spring of opportunity to grab one or be sucked into it.
This time around, becoming part of the political party of the president’s affiliation is the best option for opportunity to spring an opening.
So here we find Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol becoming full fledged party member. To date, he will be the third in the cabinet embracing the party membership yet.
Party president and Senate president Aquilino Pimentel III administered the oath taking during the formalities held.
Other inductees include Representative Alfred Vargas of the 5th district of Quezon City and Cavite vice-governor Ramon Revilla III.
Now, PDP-Laban has a formidable and muzzling super majority in the lower house of representatives with 110 or so former turncoats from other political parties. The Senate is of no difference at all with 17 senators under the majority wing.
In the arena of Philippine politics, friends and foes are separated by a thin line of personal interest and self-preservation.
