LEGAZPI CITY, April 17 — Palarong Pambansa 2016 is all over but the memory. So here is the final result of the national sportsfest competition.
Winning 209 medals in various games, the powerhouse of National Capital Region Athletic Association (NCRAA) bagged again the championship of the Palarong Pambansa 2016 held at the Albay Sports and Tourism Complex in Bicol University and various sports competition venues.
The NCRAA tucked in the most with 104 gold, 57 silvers and 48 bronze medals in this year’s national games participated by 18 regions, including the newly-created Negros Island Region.
Second overall is the Southern Tagalog CALABARZON Athletic Association (Region IV-A) with 40 gold, 43 silver and 59 bronze, followed by the Western Visayas AA (Region VI) with 35 gold, 35 silver and 39 bronze medals and Central Visayas Islands RAA (Region VII) with 29 – 31 – 29.
Fifth in medal standing is the Northern Mindanao Region AA (Region X), taking home 25 gold, 31 silver and 29 bronze medals; followed by Negros Island Region AA, with 21 gold, 28 silver and 38 bronze.
SOCCSKSARGEN RAA (Region XII) bagged 20 gold, 20 silvers and 29 bronze.
Teams with at least above 10 medals are the Central Luzon RAA (Region 3), which tallied 17 – 14 – 28, and Cordillera Administrative Region AA with 12 – 19 – 15.
Those with gold medals below 10 are: Davao RAA (Region 11), 8 – 18 – 19; Bicol RAA (Region 5), 8 – 15 -18; Zamboanga Peninsula RAA (Region IX), 6 – 7 -15, Eeastern Visayas RAA (Region VIII, 6 – 3 – 9; Region I AA (Region I), 5 – 11 – 21; MIMAROPA RAA (Region IV), 5 – 7 – 7; Cagayan Valley RAA (Region II), 4 – 9 – 8); Autonomous Region for Muslim Mindanao AA, 3 – 4 – 10; and Caraga, 1 – 5 – 1.
The total medals awarded were 350 gold, 439 silver and 349 bronze. (with PNA report)
