Strange bed-fellows: Albay LP provincial chairman and governor Joey Sarte Salceda endorses People's Reform Party senatorial candidate Francis Tolentino whose presidential candidate is Miriam Defensor Santiago. He is also a guest candidate in the line-up of presidential hopeful Rodrigo Duterte. Tolentino was born in Guinobatan, Albay. Photo sourced from facebook page of Tolentino.

Salceda to junk LP bets because of unfinished Bicol International Airport, which may tip the balance of LP’s winning or losing in his province even as Roxas said he is not afraid to lose Albay.

On Thursday, Salceda said his province may junk the administration ticket after the failure of Transportation Secretary Joseph Emilio Abaya to award the Bicol International Airport project.

The provincial LP chairman of Albay is a confirmed political butterfly when he crossed fence in 2010 to the Liberal Party after it was clear that Aquino would become president. Salceda was economic adviser to former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

Salceda told local reporters that “if Mar Roxas lose in Albay in the May 2016 election … it’s the (LP) problem because they did not fulfill the construction of the Bicol international Airport.”

The governor said he may not campaign for Roxas when province mates are losing trust because the Department of Transportation and Communications failed in the follow through of the government’s vital project in Albay despite the availability of funds.

While Roxas denied the claims of the good governor, nevertheless, the LP presidentail bet retorted “he was not afraid to lose Albay.”
