Rumor mill says Liberal Party to junk Robredo for Escudero to stop a Marcos return.

This early in the election campaigns of presidential and vice presidential bets, rumors that circulate are routine.

While in Zamboanga, standard bearer Mar Roxas had to dismiss rumors of a Liberal Party Plan B to junk running mate vice presidential candidate and Camarines Sur congresswoman Leni Robredo, for the more popular Senator Francis Esducero.

This, the rumor claims, is primarily to stop the sure return of a Marcos to the helm of the nation.

Party bigwigs worry that Robredo is not getting enough numbers to top surveys even as candidate Leni herself claimed “nothing is impossible, she could beat (Francis) Escudero and (Ferdinand “Bongbong”) Marcos.”

The persistent rumor surfaced as one political strategist and a staunch supporter of Robredo, said that “two different but credible sources” in the LP so believe it might ditch the congresswoman if her poll (survey) numbers do not pick up.

But Robredo can look up to presidential sister Ballsy Aquino-Cruz for support. Ballsy assured that she and her sisters will soon join the campaign in support of LP candidates.

Based on the latest Social Weather Stations survey released February 2016, Marcos now ties with front runner Escudero, at 26 percent.

Robredo’s survey number is dismal, or encouraging, at 19 percent, depending on whose side or party is reading this.
