MANILA — A simultaneous flag-raising and wreath-laying ceremonies at 8:00 AM on June 12, 2016, in all places of national significance in the country will highlight the 118th anniversary celebration of the proclamation of Philippine independence.
Secretary Mel Senen S. Sarmiento of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) on Friday called for the support of all provincial governors and city and municipal mayors for the activitiy.
“I enjoin local chief executives (LCEs) to coordinate with the local offices of the national government agencies in your areas as well as the private sector and non-government organizations or people’s organizations in your places for the Simultaneous Flag-Raising and Wreath-Laying Ceremonies on Sunday,” said Sarmiento.
He urged local government units (LGUs) to hold other programs and activities appropriate for the occasion such as display of Philippine flag in LGU offices, civic parade, and the likes.
With the theme “Kalayaan 2016: Pagkakaisa, Pag-aambagan, Pagsulong”, the simultaneous flag-raising and wreath-laying ceremonies will concurrently be held in Emilio Aguinaldo Shrine in Kawit, Cavite, Barasoain Church in Malolos City, Pinaglabanan Memorial Shrine in San Juan City, Mausoleo de los Veteranos de la Revolucion in Manila North Cemetery, Bonifacio Monument in Caloocan City, Pamintuan House in Angeles City, Cebu City, Davao City, and Quezon City.
