44 Bicol students get science scholarship for S/Y 2014-2015

LEGAZPI CITY — Forty-four Bicol students qualified for the science education merit scholarship program of the science and technology department for school year 2014-2015.

DOST-SEI qualifiers consists of 28 high school graduates and 16 sophomore college students this current school year.

The high school qualifiers will get assistance with any Bachelor of Science degree scholarship in the identified priority S&T fields of study effective first semester.

The twenty eight successful examinees are graduates from Philippine Science High School-Bicol campus in Goa, Camarines Sur (21); Naga City Science High School (2) and one (1) student each from Aquinas University Science Oriented High School, Legazpi City; Camarines Sur National High School, Naga City; Cataingan National High School, Cataingan, Masbate; Masbate National Comprehensive High School, Masbate City and St. Joseph School, Naga City.

The 2013 merit qualifiers for sophomore college scholarships in the region willcontinue their studies in UP-Los Baños-5; Bicol University Main, Legazpi City-5; Bicol University Tabaco Campus, Tabaco City-2; UP-Diliman-2; Technological University of the Philippines, Taguig-1 and Ateneo De Naga University, Naga City-1.

The scholars will pursue courses in statistics (1), food technology (2), biology (1) and applied mathematics (1) at UPLB; electrical engineering (3), hhysical science (1) and mathematics education (1) at BU Main; physical education (1) and fisheries (1) at BUTC; civil (1) and geodetic (1) engineering at UP-Diliman; electronic and communications engineering (1) at TUP-Taguig and physical education (1) at ADNU.
