Update: Typhoon Glenda further intensifies as it moves closer to N. Samar

Typhoon “Glenda” has slightly intensified as it moves closer to Catarman, Samar, the state weather bureau said on Tuesday afternoon.

In its 2:30 p.m. update, PAGASA said the eye of typhoon Glenda was located by Virac radar at 60 km North Northeast of Catarman, Northern Samar or 110 km East Southeast of Legazpi City, Albay (13.0°N, 124.8°E).

Glenda’s wind strength increased from 120 kph to 130 kph while its gustiness also rose from 150 kph to 160 kph. The typhoon continues to move westward at 24 kph.

With its speed and movement, typhoon Glenda is expected to make landfall over Albay-Sorsogon area by Tuesday afternoon between 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

It will then cross Albay towards Southern Luzon.

Public storm warning signal No. 3 (winds of 101-185 kilometers per hour is expected at least 18 hours) has been raised over Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Camarines Norte. Camarines Sur, Masbate, Southern Quezon, Marinduque, Northern Samar, northern part of Samar, and northern part of Eastern Samar
