Watch replay opening of Palarong Pambansa 2016 in Albay

Watch here the video replay of the grand opening of Palarong Pambansa 2016 with the province of Albay hosting the national sports competition.

The low quality video footage though did not give justice to the actual scenes personally experienced by those present during the event. Also, it would have been much better with less talkies of the emcees. (Ed.)

On that day all roads led to Bicol University for the Palarong Pambansa, the 1st time ever held in Albay, thru the efforts of Gov. Joey Salceda. Previous Palaro was twice held in Naga City and once in Camarines Sur.

Holy mass was held in Albay cathedral at 8am last Sunday attended by representatives, athletes, head of schools, DepEd officials and coaches from 18 regions. At 2:30pm the opening parade along the main streets of Legaspi city started from Vel Amor subddivision then ended in BU compund.

We watched the parade in my terrace as 6 parachuters dropped from a helicopter gliding smoothly towards the BU sports ground. Coinciding with the national games is the yearly and month-long celebration of the Magayon Festival which earlier opened on the 1st of April. On the 10th was the traditional Higantes parade featuring Tambaluslos, etc.

The event also ushered in good business opportunity for ambulant vendors which took advantage of the huge crowd during the parade and fireworks display.

As the national games closed, we commit to memory the happy days during the Palaro. So long and farewell to visitors and delegates from other provinces and regions that made the sports competition a total success.

Below is a replay of the Palaro opening:
