Ten bus units being operated by the Raymond bus line was penalized with 30-day suspension order from the Land Transportation Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB) triggered by a fatal road accident in Sariaya town of Quezon province.
One of the units of Raymond bus line crashed into a restaurant along Maharlika Highway in Sariaya after the driver lost control while maneuvering to overtake another vehicle Saturday morning. The bus just left its Camarines Sur terminal bound for Cubao.
The freak accident killed one and injured 40 others. Bus driver Leandro De Quito was arrested while injured passengers were taken to a hospital in Lucena City.
The LTFRB will still review the incident and issue a show-cause order to the operator of the bus company. It also required the operator to show up in a hearing on Jan. 13, 9 a.m. at the agency’s main office in Quezon City.
The bus company faces the possibility of franchise cancellation as this has happened to other units of the same bus company for about three other times in separate occasions since 2013.(with PNA report)
