Pope Francis presides over the Mass of the Chrism on Holy Thursday, live stream

CALABANGA, Camarines Sur, April 2 — Let us join the Holy Father as he presides over the Mass of the Chrism. The live video stream direct from St. Peter’s square in Vatican, Italy today, April 2, 2015. The event starts at 9:30am, Vatican time, or about 4:30pm Philippine standard time.

Chrism is a Greek word meaning “an anointing”), also called “myrrh” (myron), holy anointing oil, or “consecrated oil”, is a consecrated oil used in the Roman Catholic Church in the administration of certain sacraments and ecclesiastical functions. Chrism is essential for the Catholic Sacrament of Confirmation/Chrismation, and is prominently used in the sacraments of Baptism and Holy Orders.

In Calabanga, and in majority of Catholic parishes, Thursday observance will include the blessing of the fire. Note that in some churches, it will also signal the temporary closure of church doors.
