Today, direct from St. Peter’s Basilica Pope Francis celebrates the Chrism Mass which should start at about 9:30 AM in Rome.
We join the Holy Father in the celebration of the Maundy Thursday mass at the Vatican.
Expected to be in attendance are Patriarchs, Cardinals, Archbishops, Bishops and priests.
During the mass, the Pope blesses the holy oils, or ‘chrisms’ that will be used in administering the Sacraments during the year.

Later in the afternoon, Pope Francis celebrated the Mass of the Lord’s Supper in the prison of Velletri, south of Rome as reported by Vatican News.
The medium security facility has 577 prisoners majority or about 60% are foreigners.
Pope Francis washed the feet of 12 inmates, nine from Italy, and 1 each from Brazil, Ivory Coast and Morocco.
Todate, this is the fifth time the pope said mass at a prison during Maundy Thursday.
He previously said masses in Coena Domini at the Casal del Marmo, Rebibbia, Paliano and Regina Coeli, all in Italy.
