The 3rd Bishop Gainza trade fair opens tomorrow, September 6, in Naga city. According to organizers, the event will offer new twists which include locating the venue at downtown Naga, a few meters from the Metropolitan Cathedral. The site will attract thousands of foot traffic counting on the flock of devotees of the regional patroness of Our Lady of Peñafrancia.
Organizers favored inviting the traditional participants in food processing and handicraft producers as well as consolidators and franchise businesses. Product coverage has been enlarged with the inclusion of agricultural produce, tourism facilities, MSME tools and equipment and vehicles.
The Trade Fair will integrate side events on oratorical contest, ‘sabayangpagbigkas,’ folk dance and ballroom showdown, dog show, band competition, rondalla and choral competition. Entrepreneurial trainings also form part of the trade fair as managerial, skills and vocational courses will be offered at minimal fees.
According to Fr. Marc Real, “this year’s fair will be truly exciting.” Fr. Real is the trade fair project director.
The Bishop Francisco Gainza Trade Fair is organized by the Archdiocese of Caceres through the Caceres Social Action Foundation, Inc. (CASAFI). It traces back from Bishop Francisco Gainza who pioneered the First Agro-Industrial Fair in Bicol in 1875. The fair is geared towards alleviating poverty through entrepreneurship and solidarity that promotes integral development.
This year’s event will close shop on the 16th of September on the feast day of Our Lady of Peñafrancia.
