MANILA, Dec. 22 –The northeast monsoon or “hangin amihan” will continue to be the dominant weather system to affect the country as the Northern and Central Luzon can expect cloudy skies and rain on Sunday, according to Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
PAGASA said that Cagayan Valley, Bicol and the provinces of Aurora, Quezon and Palawan will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms while the Ilocos and Cordillera regions can also expect rain and cloudy skies.
It added that the rest of the country including Metro Manila will be “partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.”
PAGASA weather forecaster Aldczar Aurelio warned that waves can reach five meters off the Batanes, Calayan, Babuyan, Cagayan, Ilocos Norte, Isabela, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Ilocos Norte and Aurora.
“Fishing boats and other small seacrafts are advised not to venture out into the sea while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves,” he said.
“Fishing boats and other small seacrafts are advised not to venture out into the sea while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves,” the state weather bureau said.
Aurelio also said that the country will continue to be spared from storms in the next two to three days.
He said the weather bureau is not seeing any low pressure area (LPA) near Philippine territory that may intensify into a tropical cyclone until December 25 or Christmas.
Aurelio noted that cloudy and rainy weather would still prevail in many parts of the country for the next two to three days because of a northeast monsoon.
Meanwhile, PAGASA said moderate to strong winds from the northeast will prevail over Luzon and Visayas, with coastal waters along these areas to be moderate to rough.
Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the northeast to north, with slight to moderate seas.(PNA)
