Get to know the new National Cultural Treasures of the Philippines

The National Museum of the Philippines has come up with identifying more national cultural treasures and cultural treasures, the latest batch in 2015.

The National Museum (Pambansang Museo ng Pilipinas) is a government institution which serves as an educational, scientific and cultural institution in preserving the various permanent national collections featuring the ethnographic, anthropological, archaeological and visual artistry of the country.

It is the regulatory and enforcement agency in restoration and safeguarding of important cultural properties, sites and reservations.

These are the new, additional National Cultural Treasures and Important Cultural Properties:

Maradika, the Qur’an of Bayan (Lanao del Sur)
International Rice Research Institute Series by National Artist Vicente Manansala (two paintings)
Paco Park (Cementerio Municipal de Manila y Capilla de San Pancracio) in Paco, Manila

Minor Basilica and Church Complex of Nuestra Señora del Santisimo Rosario in Manaoag, Pangasinan, including the image of the Blessed Virgin Mary and movable and intangible properties intrinsic to the cultural significance of the property
Sacred Art of the Parish Church of Santiago Apostol in Paete, Laguna (four paintings in situ)
Ruins of Cagsawa Church in Daraga Albay
Roman Catholic Cemetery (Camposanto) of San Joaquin, Iloilo, as an integral part of the Church Complex of San Joaquin, declared as a National Cultural Treasure in 2003, and which henceforth are to be known collectively as the San Joaquin Church Complex and Camposanto of San Joaquin (Iloilo) National Cultural Treasure

The ruins of Cagsawa church in Daraga town shares the stellar billing during the commemorative Cagsawa Dos Siglos celebration marking the 200th year (1814-2014) when the church and its environs was buried by the overwhelming debris out of the eruption of Mayon volcano.
