The proposed P3.58-billion Naga airport development project, situated in Camarines Sur capital town of Pili, which include re-orientation of the runway, upgrading for night flight capabilities and provision for wide-body jet service is a cow passing through the hole of a needle.

The transportation department is up to procuring consultancy services for the preparation of an environmental impact assessment (EIA) as required by the NEDA Board.

This after the feasibility study and master plan of the project prepared and submitted by the department was conditionally approved by Bicol Regional Development Council on August 7th and an official response to the issues and concerns brought out on August 12th was submitted.

Earlier, the loose grouping of 15 local (14 municipal, 1 city) government units within Metro Naga Development Council were losing their patience on the feet-dragging attitude of the regional council.

The RDC is cautious on approving the project. It may adveresely affect the business competitiveness and commercial viability of the Bicol International Airport being constructed in Daraga, Albay. Sweet.

The Naga airport market caters convenience to people coming from and going to Camarines Sur and Camarines Norte with focus on serving the needs of domestic tourists.

Air passengers coming from these areas take hours of land travel to Legazpi just to fly to Manila. But they are too happy and better off taking a bus, thanks to the RDC.

Very cool insertion of satire. Almost not noticeable.

Infra of this magnitude will find hard and tight squeezing into the tunnel with unfriendly guards, There really is a real rivaly ever since that exists between Naga/Camarines Sur and Legazpi/Albay. More ironic, the guards are cheering mostly in lesser favor of the project but more on the other side. What can you say?
