New Tropical Depression expected to enter PAR Thursday – PAGASA
MANILA, May 4 — The low-pressure area (LPA) outside the country has intensified into a tropical depression, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Sunday.
With its speed and movement, the tropical depression is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Thursday and is forecast to make landfall in the Bicol region by next Saturday or Sunday. PAGASA said the the tropical depression also has a high chance to intensify into a tropical storm category.
Once it enters the PAR, it will be locally named “Dodong” — the fourth tropical cyclone to affect the country this year. PAGASA expects at least one to two cyclones to affect the country this May.
