This is why employees should be very vigilant when it comes to availment of their Social Security Systm benefit while updated of their status as contributing member of the system.

But what happen when the employees are getting their salaries net of the SSS contribution, meaning the deduction was already made by the employer with the express understanding that it (employer) will religiously remit collections to the government agency?

Below is exactly the same scenario we are referring to.

The respected University of Northeastern Philippines (UNEP) in Iriga City is now complying with an order of the Regional Trial Court Branch 34 in Iriga City to settle its non remittance of contributions to the Social Security System.

The school management issued 42 separate checks totalling P14.4 million to the SSS representing collections unremitted including the appropriate penalties. According to information, it is the payment scheme agreed upon with the system which will cover four years.

In the end, the employees will have to verify for themselves if their status as SSS members are again restored in good standing.
