While there is no guarantee that police officers will be prevailed from firing their service firearms during the revelry for Christmas and New Year, still the Philippine National Police has high hopes it will be observed.

As part of that drive, the Masbate Provincial Police Office under Police Senior Supt. Prexy Dugas Tanggawohn has warned his men in the different offices and stations of the organization not to violate his strict order of muzzle-taping their service firearms.

Tanggawohn said that he initiated the move to prevent his men from indiscriminate firing during Christmas and New Year revelries.

He personally led the activity after the flag-raising ceremonies held at Camp Bonnie Serrano and police stations in the 20 towns and one city of Masbate.

Tanggawohn said this is in compliance with the directive from higher headquarters to make sure that improper use of firearms will be avoided in the upcoming celebrations.

The activity also supports the campaign on zero casualty this Christmas and New Year holidays.

Tanggawohn said policemen who will be caught firing indiscriminately will face appropriate charges or dismissal from service. (PNA / Norman B. Tamar)
