Crowd numbering over 4 million watch Pope Francis live at Luneta Park and by the sidestreets near the area.
MANILA, Jan. 18 — Despite the rains Sunday, the number of Filipino faithfuls and those eager to see Pope Francis in person at the Quirino Grandstand, Rizal Park, Manila has ballooned to four million. This figure was as of 4:20 p.m., according to the MMDA Metrobase.
It cited ground estimates provided by Philippine National Police personnel doing security patrols near the Quirino Grandstand.
This number does not include people watching from the side streets of Maria Orosa, Roxas Boulevard, Kalaw Avenue and P. Burgos Street also estimated in millions. This figure is 1.5 million higher than the 2.5 million reported at 2 p.m. by the Metrobase. (Pna report)
