Bicol PDEA offers P50K for capture of barangay captain suspected of drug trafficking

CAMP GEN. SIMEON A. OLA, Legazpi City — The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) has offered a reward of P50,000 for the capture of the barangay captain of Sabang in this city now hunted by authorities for alleged illegal drugs trafficking.

Regional director Archie Grande identified the fugitive barangay official as Donald Vargas, alias Katoy, a resident of the coastal village here who has been in hiding since April this year.

Grande said the warrant of arrest against Vargas was issued by the Regional Trial Court of Legazpi who has a criminal cases for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Earlier on April 9, PDEA agents raided the house of the suspect for allegedly selling illegal drugs and making his residence a drug den.

Vargas was able to escape and has gone in hiding since then.

During the October 28 barangay elections, he did not run for reelection.

Grande said all information given by a tipster will be treated confidentially to protect his identity. (PNA)
