The World Health Organization (WHO) on January 30, 2020 issues “notice of public health emergency of international concern over the global outbreak of #2019nCoV, not because of what is happening in #China, but because of what is happening in other countries.”

This is the 6th time the World Health Organization has called a public health emergency of international concern. After the legislation came into effect in 2007, the notice was invoked notably on swine flu, Zika, polio and twice for the Ebola outbreaks in Africa.
