Three town mayors of Lanao del Sur tagged as allegedly involved in big time drug operation are subject of manhunt by police authorities of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

And yet, ARMM police director Chief Supt. Agripino Javier is still mum on the name of the local government executives while giving assurance that the mayors are indeed drug lords or illegal drug lord protectors based on intelligence reports.

Some private individuals went to the extent of raising reward money of P100,000 for the arrest of each suspects, according to Javier who cautioned that the mayors have armed followers.

The police chief refused to confirm if there is an outstanding shoot to kill order but assured that “If these mayors violently resist, of course the police know what to do, we expect these drug lords to have heavily armed followers.”

Javier expressed that while “ARMM has many private armies, now it is time to meet them head on especially we have a very supportive PNP chief and very supportive President.”

Earlier, the provincial police directors of Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi were relieved due to their dismal performance in the drive against illegal drugs. Ten town police chief were already relieved while 30 others are up for evaluation. (from PNA report)
