The 10-day Bishop Francisco Gainza Trade Fair opens September 12, 2013 in Naga city. It will definitely place on spotlight marine wealth of Bicol. It will be housed a few meters from the Naga Metropolitan Cathedral.
This time, the focus of the multi-sectoral event is the wealth of Bicol peninsula’s marine and aquatic resources.
The event is driven to attract more participants as it partners with the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources in coming up with the First Bicol Aqua Fair, featuring the finest marine products from the region.
Organized by the Caceres Social Action Foundation Inc. of the Archdiocese of Caceres in Naga City, BFGTF will also showcase various Bicol products like handicrafts, souvenir items, furniture, food products and various agricultural produce in an effort to promote Bicolano originality and ingenuity.
Fair organizers rationalized in opening the annual event on Sept. 12, a day before the Traslacion or the opening day of the fiesta of Bicol’s patroness of Our Lady of Peñafrancia.
To culminate on Sept. 22nd, the fair is also perfectly timed with the city’s Peñafrancia fiesta break, giving enough time for locals and visitors to shop and visit the fair.
Aside from BFAR, the annual fair is supported by the Department of Trade and Industry.
It must be recalled that the First Agro-Industrial Fair in Bicol Region in 1875 inspired by Bishop Gainza.
