Trapped in Bicol. The pursuit for the suspect of a road rage killing in Quiapo Monday night ended in Milagros town of Masbate province in Bicol.
A joint Army intelligence and provincial police team handcuffed the suspect who surrendered Friday noon.
The suspect, identified as Vhon Martin Tanto, also known as Skyton Tonsky surrendered to the pursuit team in the residence of his wife Barangay Poblacion East.
It was Aniza, suspect Vhon Martin Tanto’s wife who contacted her husband’s friends and military reservists she asked help from, which facilitated the surrender to the Philippine Army Intelligence Service Unit (PALSU).
Tanto quickly eluded capture after the Quiapo incident which was caught in a footage of a closed-circuit television showing the shooting of cyclist Mark Vincent Geralde after a fistfight Monday evening in Quiapo.
The suspect slipped from the police manhunt using a Hyundai Eon to the house of his brother-in-law in Barangay Kirang, Aritao, Nueva Vizcaya, where he left his firearms.
Even as the killing was widely publicized in media, the suspect, who was in an “inactive” status as a military reservist since January last year, was able to travel from Nueva Vizcaya to Masbate.
