Palace spokesperson tells mainstream media press President Duterte’s war on drugs was a success
Palace spokesman tells members of Malacañang Press corps, majority of them representing the mainstream media, that President Rodrigo Duterte’s election centerpiece campaign promise of eradicating drug in the country was a success.
Was it a success? Really? If indeed!
According the Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo, during his recent press briefing, the war on drugs being waged by President Rodrigo Duterte “was a success”.
Amomg the things he cited include that there were millions of drug users who have surrendered.
He claimed that the administration has dismantled so many illegal drug factories already.
The palace spokesman also said that rehab centers were established for drug-addicted individuals where they are now confined.
Panelo pointed out there were buy-bust operations that resulted in the killing of drug pushers, and those involved in the drug because they resisted arrest and placed the lives of the police officer in peril.
During the 2016 presidential campaign, Duterte said he will clean the country of drugs within six months. It was one of the centerpiece of his electoral campaign promises which has yet to be fulfilled.
It must be recalled Duterte started the war on drugs in July of 2016 which is now way beyond halfway of his term of office.
The campaign saw deaths of at least 5,526 drug personalities in legitimate police operations alone.
It must be recalled that Duterte boasted he will clean the country of drugs in six months.
Human rights organizations estimate the total death toll to more than 27,000, to include those killed vigilante-style.
