NAIA on full allert status after Davao City bombing

The Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) has been placed in full alert status following Friday’s bombing in Davao City. Baggage screeners are directed to remain vigilant and discerning. A thorough inspection of baggages will be resorted to only when the need calls for it. Issuance of access for the purpose of meeting or sending off passengers has also been limited.

The Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) has been placed in full alert status following Friday’s bombing in Davao City.

Manila International Aairport Authority general manager Ed Monreal clarified that the alert status was raised as a proactive measure to ensure safety and security of airport users.

Monreal clarified that the public should not be alarmed at all.

Baggage screeners are directed to remain vigilant and discerning. A thorough inspection of baggages will be resorted to only when the need calls for it.

We do not want to cause inconvenience in the process by creating long lines at the baggage screening checkpoints, the airport GM explained.

Monreal also said that as a matter of procedure during full alert status, the presence of full Airport Police Department will be in full complement.

Airport users are assured not to be alarmed with increased police visibility within the terminal buildings and outer vicinities of the airport.

K9 units will also be a common sight in the complex.

Security at checkpoints shall conduct random rigid inspections on motor vehicles and the public is advised to oblige for their own protection.

Issuance of access for the purpose of meeting or sending off passengers has also been limited.

Visitor’s passes may be suspended for everyone’s saftey, depending on intelligence report, Monreal revealed.

The MRT and LRTs are also on full alert.
