P781-M Bicol international airport contract up for bid

There is no holding back on the construction of the Bicol International Airport (also known as Southern Luzon International airport), which is being built in Barangay Alobo of Daraga town in the province of Albay.

This was learned from the project’s lead agency, the Department of Transportation and Communications, which is inviting bidders for a P781-million construction contract for key facilities at the airport.

The contract for the Albay project will cover key structures such as the control tower and cargo terminal, including power, water and sewer facilities.

According to the transportation department, interested groups can get hold of bid documents for P75,000. Offers will have to be submitted on Jan. 21, 2015 and will be opened on the same day.

A pre-bid conference was set for Jan. 9, 2014, the DOTC notice said.

The new Bicol airport will be an improved replacement to the existing Legazpi airport. The new complex will occupy 2 square kilometers of ground space. It is approximately 15 kilometers from Mt. Mayon.
