Mrs. Robredo Ascends as Cam Sur Liberal Party Honcho

We stopped guessing on what Bicol RTC branch the good widow of former Interior secretary Jesse Robredo will be assigned. For the meantime, that will be on hold as Atty. Leni Robredo will soon occupy the chairmanship of the local Liberal Party branch in the province of Camarines Sur, the post vacated by her late husband.

Perhaps, the pressure or offer exerted by President Benigno Aquino III and new DILG secretary Mar Roxas was too hard to resist.

In our earlier post here we discussed that Atty. Maria Leonor Gerona-Robredo, widow of former DILG Secretary was shortlisted for Bicol RTC post.

Part of her new task as CamSur Liberal Party honcho will be to rally the provincial members to unity. The last week of September up to and until the last day of filing of certificates of candidacy is crunch time in local politics. She will also sign final nominations of party candidates for the whole province.

It would mean that only after the May 2013 elections will we find out if she will get the appointment for the RTC post. The position should be in the bag, what with the president at her back. Far more sure if the party make good in the local elections! But then, maybe, another window of opportunity may open up.

The regional trial court can sacrifice for a few months waiting for the rightful judge. Never mind if cases pile up in the process. Politics first and foremost on the mind of the national leadership as always.

Whatever happened to the statement that Mrs. Robredo was not interested in politics?

  1. maray iyan ta dai magibo nin maraot sa pag pa dagos kang napunan kang si saiyang agom… hurray to the new LP honcho of Cam Sur!

  2. A national daily carried the story that “she asked the Judicial and Bar Council to consider her for any vacant judgeship in the Quezon City Regional Trial Courts. She withdrew her candidacy (for Bicol RTC) because she decided to be closer to her children who reside in Quezon City.”
