Legazpi City has new police chief, 100 more cops and 100 Glock firearms

CAMP GEN. SIMEON A. OLA, Legazpi City, Dec. 2 — The Bicol Regional Police Office leadership has installed a new police chief, assigned 100 more police officers and turned over 100 Glock 9mm-caliber pistols to the Legazpi City Police Office in a ceremony held Monday morning.

Chief Supt. Victor P. Deona, Bicol police director, formally installed Supt. Rommel Dela Rama as the new city police chief and turned over the new police officers and firearms to Mayor Noel E. Rosal at the police headquarters along Alternate Road here.

Rosal said the assigning of additional police officers in the city and arming them with Glock firearms will bolster the campaign of the city government to maintain peace and order, especially that the city is fast becoming a tourist attraction and a convention center for large organizations nationwide.

Deona also announced that the chiefs of police of other towns in Albay will soon be replaced.

Polangui town will have Senior Insp. Pedro Rafael Jr.; Oas, Senior Insp. Dominique Borigas; Guinobatan, Senior Insp. Rowell Pedro; Malilipot, Senior Insp. Dioney Cardano; and Malinao, Senior Insp. Arthur Gomez.

The Bicol police director said more police office heads in the entire region will be reshuffled before the year ends as part of the program to strengthen the police offices in the region and enhance the delivery of services to the people. (PNA)
