Free at last!
That could be one of the first liners former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo may have said after the Supreme Court of the Philippines (SCOTP) dismissed the case that stemmed from the alleged misuse of the P366-million confidential intelligence fund of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) during her presidency.
But just you wait, the former president who has debilitating bone disease detained at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC) in Quezon City may have something in her mind.
To observers, it would seem that her detention at the hospital was almost co-terminus with the terms of former President Benigno S. Aquino III, one of her political archenemy.
The diminutive Pampanguena hinted yesterday counter-charges might be filed against those who persecuted her and turn the tide against her detractors soon.
She did not forget though and expressed gratitude to supporters on his innocence and acquittal of the plunder charges.
Of course, the members of the high court is a recipient of her big thanks in putting a stop on her unjust persecution.
“First and foremost, to God Almighty be all the glory and praise. Through His kindness and mercy, justice and righteousness have once again prevailed over injustice and wrongdoing,” Arroyo said in a statement.
