PAGASA weather forecaster Jori Loiz Ignacio said as of 6 a.m. the typhoon was located based at 960 km east of Borongan, Eastern Samar (12.2°N, 134.2°E). Due to vertical wind shear typhoon Chedeng’s maximum sustained winds decrease from 190 kph to 180 kph near the center and its gustiness also decrease from 225 kph to 215 kph. The movement of the typhoon is west northwest at 19 kph.

The typhoon, maintaining its speed and movement, is expected to landfall over eastern coast of Aurora, Quezon or Isabela by late Saturday (April 4) to early Sunday (April 5). Within the next 18 hours, PAGASA will raise Public Storm Warning Signal #1 over Bicol and Samar Provinces.

Meanwhile, President Benigno S. Aquino III said he will check the progress of Typhoon “Chedeng”, as it enters the country’s area of responsibility from Bahay Pangarap, assured that other concerned government agencies, among them, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC), are closely watching Typhoon Chedeng and are ready to be mobilized once the typhoon strikes.
