Some 353 students enrolled at the Catanduanes State University were granted scholarship amounting to P60,000 per head by the Commission on Higher Education this school year.

The program on expanded student’s grants-in-aid for poverty alleviation targets indigent but deserving students from families enrolled in the 4P’s of the social welfare department.

In the same event held at the university gymnasium, the beneficiaries and parents signed their commitment of participation.

The grantees are bound to maintain satisfactory academic standing and work in the country for two years. The ceremony also include parental commitment to support the scholar to finish college.

Each program participant is guaranteed a maximum of P60,000 grant per academic year. The amount is supposed to cover the cost of tuition, school fees, academic and extra-curricular expenses, purchase of text books, board and lodging, transportation, clothing, and admission/entrance fees, health and other educational expenses and support services.
