Data released by the BIR Friday listed Filipino-Chinese businessman Jacinto L. Ng, Sr. as topping the Bureau of Internal Revenue’s 500 individual taxpayers for 2014, dislodging last year’s top 1, eight-division boxing champ and Sarangani Representative Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao.
Ng, the founder of Republic Biscuit Corporation and chairman of Asia United Bank Corp., paid BIR P280.11 million last year.
Pacquiao was second with P210.31 million tax payment.
Mercury Drug Corp. president Vivian Que Azcona came in third after paying a total of P153.55 million.
Logging tycoon and Palawan Governor Jose Chavez Alvarez is the fourth highest individual tax payer with P73 million.
Jacinto Co Ng Jr., who is the Chief Executive Officer of real estate developer Elantival Enclaves Inc., made it to the top five after paying P66.87 million.
Presidential sister and TV personality Kristina “Kris” Bernadette Cojuangco is the 6th highest payer with P54.53 million.
Others who made it to the top 10 are Smart Communications executive Ronaldo Romero Soliman (P53,482,261.00), Coca Cola Bottlers Phils. Inc. President and CEO William Schultz (P51,323,143.000, San Miguel Corp. CEO Ramon See Ang (P51,058,003.00), UBS Investments Philippines Managing Director Lauro Baja II (P50,749,506.66I). They are the seventh to 10th, respectively.
Television personalities also made it to the list. Sharon Cuneta- Pangilinan at number 13 (P49,117,122.00), John Lloyd Cruz, 22 (P37,701,343.00); Anne Curtis-Smith, 32 (P31,465,873.00); Vic Sotto, 45 (P27,001,073.000; Piolo Pascual, 48 (P26,423,395.000; Coco Martin, 66 (P22,017,644.00); and Sara Geronimo, 72 (P21,471,618.00.)
