Move over Burj Khalifa (of Dubai), a new high rise tower is rising (sic) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The Jeddah Economic Company is building the world’s tallest tower that can eclipse the Burj currently in the Guinness World Record.

Over 1000 meters and a total construction area of 530,000 squares meters, Kingdom tower will be the center piece and first construction phase of the $20 Billion Kingdom City development in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, near the Red Sea.

Initially referred to as the Kingdom Tower, now the Jeddah Tower, the building will rise to 3,280 feet upwards. Some 26 of the 200 storeys are already completed.

The multi-commercial use building will house among others apartment units, condominiums, a luxury hotel which will be served with 59 elevators and 12 escalators. It is located in Jeddah along the coast of the Red Sea.
