MANILA, Dec. 23 — President Benigno S. Aquino III is scheduled to sign on Tuesday the P2.606-trillion General Appropriations Act (GAA) for 2015, Presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said.

On Tuesday “….. the President will sign the General Appropriations Act for 2015, which stands as a testament to the lengthy reviews and planning undertaken by agencies, in order to improve the way they serve the public,” Lacierda said in a statement issued on Monday.

He noted that this marks the fifth time the budget has been passed on time.

“This stands as a symbol of the Aquino administration’s commitment to reforms. The P2.606-trillion budget for next year remains guided by the philosophies that have characterized our administration, among them inclusive growth, transparency and accountability, and our effort to build back better,” he said.

The bicameral conference committee of Congress approved the proposed budget last December 10.

Earlier, Social Watch Philippines alleged that vulnerabilities in the 2015 national budget remain apparent despite a Supreme Court declaration outlawing the Priority Development Assistance Fund as well as the Disbursement Acceleration Program.
