The Philippines is spending P11.2 million for the 2-day visit of President Benigno S. Aquino III to South Korea. The amount will cover transportation, accommodation, food, and equipment expenses.
The president is attending the 25th Association of South East Asian Nations and Republic of Korea commemorative summit in the city of Busan on December 11-12.
Aquino tags along a 48-member delegation which included some Cabinet officials like Cabinet Secretary Jose Rene Almendras, Press Secretary Herminio Coloma, Cesar Purisima of Finance, Gregory Domingo of Trade and Industry, Celia Anna Feria, Presidential Protocol Chief, and Julia Andrea Abad of Presidential Management Staff.
According to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), President Aquino is scheduled to deliver his country-statement on this year’s summit theme, “Building Trust, Bringing Happiness,” and hold a bilateral meeting with South Korean President Park Geun-hye, who will host a welcome dinner and cultural performance to officially welcome the ASEAN leaders.
The Asean-ROK Commemorative Summit will be the last trip of the president outside of the country for 2014.
