City reroutes traffic as Yawa bridge project starts

LEGAZPI CITY -– Commuters traversing the Yawa bridge here better find an alternative route to avoid inconvenience.

Starting Monday, August 6, a traffic rerouting affecting buses, trucks and delivery vans take effect as works on the bridge widening project starts.

While the project has an allotment of P140 million approved in the budget for 2014, an initial amount of P40 milion was released already to the regional office of the public works department. [related story on this link]

The Albay 2nd engineering district is the implementing agency tasked to complete the widening until February of next year.

The current two-lane bridge will be expanded to four lanes with a total length of 140 meters and width of 14.4 meters.

The bridge connects the barangays of Bonot and Rawis, with the latter hosting various government regional offices.
