WikiLeaks publisher Julian Assange was arrested in London on Thursday morning.
This happened after Ecuadorian diplomatic officials invited British police into the embassy to arrrest the Australian citizen.
The 47-year old Assange (Julian Paul Hawkins) faces possible jail time in United Kingdom, a possible extradition to the United States and criminal charges in Sweden.
Mr. Assange had been living in the embassy after being granted diplomatic asylum since 2012. He received his citizenship from Ecuador in 2017.
The arrest was allegedly caused with his skipping bail in 2012 after seeking asylum. He faces up to 12 months in UK prison.
But for the many who do not know Julian Assange, we interrupt this account with the video below by Sargon of Akkad.
Assange’s Wikileaks published private emails of Hillary Clinton’s campaign huncho John Podesta during the 2016 US presidential elections.
In Sweden, he is facing charges of “sexual assault” for unprotected sex. Later, the Swedish prosecutors considered dropping the charges but was convinced by UK authorities to pursue.
