The Commission on elections on Friday voted to cancel the certificate of candidacy for president of Senator Grace Poe.

The Comelec first division has finally disqualified the hopeful candidacy of the lady senator from running in the May 9, 2016 presidential derby.

Update: Voting 2-1, the poll body’s First Division, headed by Commissioner Christian Robert Lim ruled in favor of the petitions filed by former Sen. Francisco Tatad, former Law Dean Amado Valdez and Prof. Antonio Contreras, which were earlier consolidated.

The petitions sought to disqualify the presidential aspirant in the May 2016 polls.

Members of the First Division include Commissioners Luie Guia and Rowena Guanzon.

Earlier, the poll body’s Second Division also cancelled Poe’s COC for material representations on her residence and citizenship.

The petition was filed by lawyer Estrella Elamparo.
