SM launches biggest solar panel project. Yes, the biggest solar rooftop panel project in the Philippines was recently launched by SM Group on Monday, November 24 in Quezon city.
The green energy project is located atop the SM City North EDSA, powered by 5,760 solar panels installed at the rooftop of the multilevel parking building. It is expected to generate 1.5 megawatts of power for the mall’s 16,000 lighting fixtures, 59 escalators, and 20 elevators.
According to SM Supermalls President Annie Garcia, solar panels will also be installed in other SM malls, such as in SM City Dasmariñas in Cavite and in SM City Mall of Asia in Pasay City.
The SM Group first launched the solar project in SM Xiamen in China, with 1.1 megawatts solar energy produced by 3,740 panels.
