CA affirms conviction of former CASURECO II board members

The 9th Division of the Court of Appeals affirmed the conviction previously handed down by the Regional Trial Court Branch 33 on July 25th 2011 for indirect contempt by former Camarines Sur electric cooperative 2 president, eight members of the board and an area manager.

Convicted as charged are former coop board president Tomas de Vera, board members Delfin Divinagracia, Emmanuel Rojo, Alfredo Cortez, Adan Marcelo Botor, Gay Pabines, Hilario Basmayor, Rey Hernandez and Venancio Regalado, and area manager Lorenzo Caroche.

They will have to pay a fine of P30,000 each and go to prison for 3 months.

The decision, penned by Associate Justice Stephen C. Cruz as concurred by Associate Justices Magdangal M. De Leon and Eduardo B. Peralta, Jr., was received by RTC Branch 33 on Sept. 2, 2014.

Meanwhile, in the upcoming election for board members of the electric cooperative, Rey Hernandez of Calabanga district, Tomas De Vera of Magarao district, Oscar Borja of Bombon district, and Agusto Pacis of Pili district have earlier filed their certificates of candidacy. Some districts have no candidates, though.
