Pushover: Robredo abandons 3rd district of CamSur, will run as VP for LP ticket
The push and pull tactic of the Liberal Party camp has succeeded. Camarines Sur 3rd district congresswoman Leni Robredo is jumping-in as the official vice-presidential candidae to tandem with Mar Roxas.
Robredo, a first term congressman of the province has agreed to become the running mate of resigned interior secretary Mar Roxas, the LP standard bearer.
A proclamation is scheduled today at 9:00 AM with President Benigno S. Aquino, III in attendance at the Club Filipino in Greenhills, in the city of San Juan. It is expected that the full senatorial slate of the party may be revealed by the president, also.
Earlier, Liberal Party members received a text message that says: “Good day Fellow Liberals! We would like to invite you po for our Gathering of Friends, tomorrow Oct. 5, 8 a.m. at Club Filipino, Greenhills. Please confirm your attendance. Thank you,”
Congresswoman Robredo has made a complete turn-around from her early stand of not running for the post because her daughters are against the idea. Atty. Robredo at first said that one of the primary consideration she may not run because she do not want to abandon the 3rd distict of Camarines Sur and open the possibility of the return of the Villafuertes. It must be recalled that she defeated septagenuarian Luis villafuerte, Sr. in the 2010 elections for the congressional seat.
