According to RT the 19-kilometer long main bridge is expected to open in December 2018 and will connect the city of Kerch in Crimea to mainland Russia, thereby effectively making a by-pass of Ukraine. It said that workers are building temporary bridges that will carry construction machinery and deliver materials to the Kerch bridge site. Of the three bridges planned, one is already working, RT added.
RT said that the project is being connected to a new 40-km four-lane highway with five interchanges with the Krasnodar region in the south of Russia.
