Watch the fast paced version (Cbanga360.net version) of the discussion by the lower chamber of the Philippines’ congress, the House of Representatives on the proposed 2018 budget of the Commission on Human Rights.
Follow the discussion as the representative from the Party List Sagip, the Honorable Rodante Marcoleta take the cudgels as the face of the devil’s advocate.
He tossed the proposal of P1,000 budget for the commission, echoing the pronouncements of President Rodrigo Duterte’s disdain towards the constitutional body.
It must be recalled that Marcoleta’s name, together with some senators and congressmen, was included in the P200M questionable pork barrel-funded projects exposed by the Commission on Audit.
Face of the devil’s advocate: Congressman Rodante Marcoleta proposed the idiotic abolition of the Commission on Human Rights with a P1-K budgetary allocation for F/Y2018. The honorable Sagip party list representative was previously implicated in the COA audit report, together with several senators and congressmen, of questionable expenditure of P200-M pork barrel funds during the term of President Benigno Aquino, III.
The harsh idiotic proposal will actually, virtually, kill the constitutional body out of existence.
The current head of the Commission, Chito Gascon (Jose Luis Martin Gascon) is at loggerheads with Duterte.
At the end of the proceedings, the present members of the house passed the proposal mainly for the perceived fear of reprisal from the Speaker of the House and the president himself.
The ruling coalition headed by the Lakas ng Demokratikong Pilipino party (sic), which is the political party affiliation of Duterte, the Senate President and the Speaker of the House, is known at keenly imposing its rule to members of following the official party line, or else.
