Today, Fathers Day, our raw foodie shares the recipe and video on how to make a healthy organic pineapple, mango and carrot medley. Excellent refreshing treat for every member of the family as they huddle around.
This production is the first using the new Vitamix Professional Series 200.
1/2 cup organic pineapple (fresh or frozen)
1 medium organic mango, peeled, unseeded or diced
1/3 to 1/2 of medium organic carrot
1 teaspoon of organic mint (fresh or dried (grounded)
Dash (but no more than 1/2 teaspoon of Agave nectar or Honey
1 cup of water (purified or if tap water, filtered and boiled for 20 minutes, then cooled off or chilled)
7 to 10 pcs of Ice cubes (or as desired)
Makes two glasses of fruity medley
Drop pineapple, mango, carrot and mint on the Vitamix jar or standard blender. Add Agave nectar or Honey. Add last the water.
Remember. In blending, add/ pour the soft ingredients first.
If using Vitamix, blend for 30 seconds or until desired consistency is reached.
If using standard blender, (like Osterizer), select or push knob to high and start by selecting Grate (Beat) for 30 seconds, then Blend (Puree) or Liquefy (Whip) alternately until desired consistency is attained. Also, press pulse when contents get stuck up on the blade.
Side note: Fresh pineapple is best option rather than frozen.
Pineapple is a good source of manganese (76% daily value (DV) in a one US cup serving) and vitamin C (131% DV per cup serving). Mango contains a variety of phytochemicals and nutrients. Carrots are rich in antioxidants and minerals. The latter two fruits contain carotenoids.
People consuming diets rich in carotenoids from natural foods, such as fruits and vegetables, are healthier and have lower mortality from a number of chronic illnesses.
